There's a trickster tale that tells about the time that Coyote used vanity to trick Crow into swallowing the Sun. Crow didn't want to share the sky with the Sun so he "eclipsed" the world in darkness introducing the Earth to night.

I'm continuing with my crow obsession here. Playing with some of my favorite folklore. I did an Art Nouveau style, but tried to use traditional Mayan colors with the bright oranges, reds, yellows, and blues.

The figure in the middle of the image represents Coyote, while I've shown Crow twice. Once you see him young and innocent with bright black plumage and the Sun shining above him. On the other side we see him a little more faded with an eclipsed Sun above him.
